Taking as a starting point the theory of rhythmic substitution (G. I. Tohăneanu, 1969) and the theory of the existence of the golden section in literature (Eugen Dorcescu, 1978), the work deepens previous acquisitions, already published, on the theme of the golden section and its recognition in Romanian poetry. Using a number of Eminescian
poems, our analysis highlights the polysemy of the term golden section, which, in our view, denotes not only the ideal proportion between the material segments of an artistic work (specifically, between the cadences of poetry), but also a criterion for the recognition of aesthetic value; and, last but not least, an instrument (perfectible, of course) for analysing the structures of poetic discourse.
